Leadership, Organizing, and Action

Leadership, Organizing, and Action: Leading Change, which is offered through HKS Executive Education, online community organizing class The course supports the development of leadership in civic associations, advocacy groups, and social movements.

The course, which begins on February 8th and runs through May 20th, is now accepting applications. Over a 14-week period, this program supports participants in identifying, recruiting, and developing leadership; building community around that leadership; and enabling that community to translate its resources into the power it needs to achieve its goals. Specific practices include relationship-building, motivational story-telling, strategizing, taking action, and establishing structures to support the work.

Our pedagogy is based on a “head, heart, and hands” approach that links concepts, values, and practice in a highly interactive setting. Participants take on leadership for a real-life organizing project that allows them to put course concepts into practice, hone their skills with a learning partner, and grow and develop through real-time interaction with other students — all of which is facilitated by a trained teaching fellow.

In the past 9 years, 956 alumni from 78 countries have completed the course, working in a wide array of fields, including education, health care, immigrant rights, gender equality, workers’ rights and environmental justice. Join us!

Applications are open until December 8th, 2018. To apply, or for more information on program dates, tuition, and curriculum, please visit the Leadership, Organizing and Action: Leading Change website.

We invite you to apply.
