Visiting Assistant Professor Forensic Anthropology and Bioarchaeology
University of Montana invites eligible candidates to apply for a non-tenure-track position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology to begin August 2017. Successful applicants will display a concentration on Forensic Anthropology and Bioarchaeology. The teaching load consists of three courses per semester, ranging from introductory through upper-division courses and graduate seminars.
Course content includes introductory physical anthropology (lecture and lab), osteology, bioarchaeology, and forensic archaeology. Duties also involve advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students (including potential service on graduate committees), and forensic casework for the State Crime Lab.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD (before August 2017) with an emphasis in Biological Anthropology
- Demonstrated evidence of teaching experience
- Experience with forensic anthropological casework
- Ability to coordinate with the State Crime Lab to facilitate potential forensic cases
Preferred Qualifications
- A research agenda in bioarchaeology and/or skeletal biology as evidenced by funding, publications, presentations, and experience
- Projects that potentially allow for student involvement are ideal
- Use of advanced computational methods and statistics in research
- Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Anthropology Certification, or working toward such
- A geographic focus that enhances the Department, preferably in an area or areas within western North America
- Strong teaching abilities, demonstrated through experience, favorable evaluations, and philosophy, preferably including experience with lab and online classes
