Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology and Sociology at Knox College invites applications for a one-year full-time visiting assistant professor position in socio-cultural anthropology to begin September 2017.
Knox is an independent, selective liberal arts institution with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a diverse environment. The Anthropology and Sociology Department offers a joint integrative major that emphasizes the complementarities of the two disciplines and that culminates in faculty-supervised student research. The College operates on a trimester system with a teaching load of 2-2-2.
Please submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching ability (including sample syllabi for existing or future courses and available teaching evaluations), and three letters of reference to Professor Nancy Eberhardt at anthrosearch@knox.edu. Review of applications begins March 15, 2017 and will continue until the position is filled.
Qualifications: Ph.D. preferred; advanced ABD in socio-cultural anthropology considered. Research and teaching interests are open, but the strongest applications will be those that expand rather than duplicate the strengths of our existing faculty. Applications from anthropologists with teaching and research experience outside of the Caribbean or Southeast Asia are particularly welcome.
