Climate Change Politics, Associate Professor
The School of International Service (SIS) at American University invites candidates, from across the disciplines, with expertise in the politics of global climate change to apply for a tenured position at the Associate or Full professor level.
Areas of particular interest include:
· Climate vulnerability, justice, and adaptation including social movements, the disproportionate impacts of climate change on economically marginalized communities, the distributional consequences of institutional responses, and the social dimensions of adaptation as given by class, race, and gender
· Science/politics/policy interface, knowledge-power, and the exclusionary dynamics and technocratic orientations of institutional responses
· The potential and challenges for renewable energy systems in climate mitigation
· Climate diplomacy, international institution building, and issues of macro-micro interactions
· Climate finance mechanisms and their reception and impacts in developing countries.
As a school that includes a diversity of scholarly disciplines and approaches, we seek the best candidates without respect to a particular discipline. We seek scholar-teachers whose work is theoretically grounded, empirically tested, and policy relevant.
