Qualifications
–PhD in Psychology (preferred) or Social Sciences.
-Some experience in working in international emergencies preferred.
-Experience in developing and validating survey instruments.
-Knowledge of psychological trauma- and stress-related mental illness.
-Able to travel internationally and work in countries affected by war and conflict.
-Strong interest in the field of mental health in emergencies.
Organizational Mission IERHB
To reduce morbidity and mortality in and improve the health of populations affected by complex humanitarian and other international emergencies.
Stipend
Approx. $4800 monthly.
Projects
The ORISE Fellow will be working on operational research, outcome evaluations of mental health interventions, and surveys in the field of mental health in complex emergencies. He/she will be assisting with the development of questionnaires and validation of instruments, writing protocols, assist with data analyses and publication of results. He/she will also assist in teaching courses on mental health. He/she will have the opportunity to travel internationally and work in countries affected by war and violent conflict, or natural disasters. The ORISE Fellow will be working under the general direction of CDC’s International Emergency and Refugee Health Branch’s Psychiatrist/Medical Epidemiologist.
