Research Assistant. Theme: Ubuntu and the Struggle for Social Justice
The University of Duisburg-Essen, Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) Essen, invites applications for a position of Research Assistant / Ph.D. Student (Payment according to Grade E 13 TV-L, part-time position with 65% of the working hours of a full-time employee for a period of 36 months)
Main tasks:
Participating in the DFG-funded research project “Diversity, Power, and Justice: Transcultural Perspectives,” directed by Prof. Dr. Ina Kerner (Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Centre for Global Cooperation Research) and Dr. Franziska Dübgen (Universität Kassel).
The Research Assistant will be expected to conduct independent research in the thematic realm of the sub-project “Ubuntu and the Struggle for Social Justice” at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) Essen with the objective of obtaining a PhD; to organize international workshops, and to actively take part in publication projects as well as in regular meetings of the research group.
Your Profile:
Outstanding qualified degree (master or equivalent) in Political Science, Sociology, African Studies or Philosophy with a focus on political theories Very good English skills (written and spoken) Knowledge of African Political Theory and African Philosophy Interest in postcolonial and transcultural approaches to Political Theory
